On the 22nd August 2022, Impact International hosted a tree planting day at our forest.
60 plus guests attended, including the Hon Chris Bowen, Minister for Climate Change and Energy.
Our forest partners helped plant the 6,500 Pinus radiata saplings and 2,000 native tree saplings that were delivered to the forest.
Following a tutorial on how to plant trees, guests were given different areas to work in and headed off to plant their trees.
A delicious hot lunch was served at the Impact Hut, using produce from the local area. After lunch, guests heard Hon Chris Bowen (Minister for Climate Change and Energy), David Rose (Forestry Consultant) and Holly Ainslie (Soil Physicist) on why projects such as the Impact Forest are so important to combat climate change. Speaking with Lindy Hughson, Editor of PKN Magazine, Bowen said: “There are many companies doing great things in sustainability, but Aleks and his team take it to the next level.”
Guests then returned to the Impact hut for afternoon tea, followed by a 4WD tour of the existing forest and more tree planting. Some guests stayed to watch the sunset, enjoying a glass of delicious local wine and a relaxed early dinner.
We thank our forest partners for their continued support and look forward to hosting more tree planting days in the future. Impact International is the only packaging company in Australia who has purchased its own forest infrastructure to offset the carbon footprint of the packaging we produce.
